What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a comfortable, innovative, and highly aesthetic way to achieve a beautiful straight smile. The virtually invisible aligners are a seamless fit with your lifestyle and day-to-day interactions, and it is likely that no one will even notice they are there. With no metal brackets or wires included, you can straighten your teeth in complete comfort.

The removable aligners give you the flexibility to eat and drink whatever you want, and clean your teeth as normal. All you need to do is make sure you wear your aligners for 22 hours per day to keep your treatment on track and allow the gentle and gradual forces to work on your teeth.

We use innovative equipment in every stage of your Invisalign journey. The digital planning software allows you to view your predicted results and how your teeth will move before you even begin treatment, ensuring you are happy and making you excited to start wearing the aligners.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Invisalign take?

The length of your Invisalign treatment depends on how far your teeth have to move to achieve your ideal results, and your individual case. Some people’s teeth move faster, and others need a little more time. Typically, Invisalign treatment takes between 3-9 months. More complex cases may take longer and need more aligners. We will advise you of your expected treatment time after your initial consultation.

How much does Invisalign cost?

Invisalign at Burgess Hill Dental starts from £3,500, depending on how complicated the case is. We structure your payments across the course of your treatment, spreading the cost.

Does Invisalign hurt your teeth?

Invisalign treatment does not hurt, although you may feel some discomfort at first, which fades quickly. The aligners themselves have been designed with comfort in mind, making it easy to wear them for 22 hours per day. No metal brackets or wires are included, and the clear plastic material fits precisely over your teeth for a snug fit.

How long do I need to wear my clear aligners for each day?

You need to wear your clear aligners for around 22 hours a day. Every time you remove them, your treatment is effectively on pause, so if you keep them out of your mouth for long periods of time it will affect your Invisalign timescales and outcome. You are able to remove your aligners for eating, drinking and brushing your teeth, but please make sure they are stored in a hard container to avoid damage.

Will other people be able to tell I have Invisalign aligners?

No, other people will not be able to tell you are wearing Invisalign aligners. They truly are virtually invisible when worn, and blend beautifully into your mouth. No one needs to know unless you choose to tell them.

What is a Platinum Invisalign provider?

Invisalign uses a system to categorise those who perform the treatment, based on their experience and number of successful cases. A Platinum provider is considered an Invisalign expert and has successfully transformed many smiles. You are in safe hands.

Why do I need to wear retainers?

Retainers are seen as the final stage of all orthodontic treatment, needed to maintain the results you have worked so hard to achieve. Teeth are constantly shifting, and have a habit of moving out of place if not properly retained. We advise you to wear retainers, usually overnight so they don’t interfere with your daily life, for as long as you want your smile to stay straight.

What can Invisalign help with?

Invisalign can be used to help correct a wide range of orthodontic issues, including misalignment, crowding and gaps. It can also be used effectively to bring your bite into line. Straightening your teeth can also have a positive effect on your overall appearance, as bringing teeth into straighter positions enhances your facial shape and structure.
